This post will make some of you exclaim, “Praise the Lordt!”. Others, not so much. Either way, it’s my story and I’m sticking to it. BTW, as I’m typing this, that baby is squirming up a storm in my stomach. Her movements tickle and I’m the weirdo randomly laughing in public places for no apparent reason.
On July 4th, 2015, I woke up from a dream that immediately prompted me to text a close friend and tell her about it. I dreamt I was holding my baby. It was a girl and she had dark hair. And, in that dream, in that moment, I felt the most unbelievable happiness. Completely indescribable. I remember looking down at her in the dream, thinking that she was going to be a fearless leader. I woke up that morning knowing that not only was I meant to be a mother, but I was going to be a mother.
I felt like God was showing me what He had in store. That dream and that crazy feeling of happiness led me through the next 13 months as I continued to pursue this thing that I felt certain was meant to be. While we’d been open to the Universe doing its thing for a few years, I felt like it was time to go out there and get aggressive – To claim what God had shown me was mine.
Fast forward to July 2016, a month before we found out that we were pregnant, Mario’s mother called to tell us that she had dreamed about a little girl who belonged to us. The same little girl that I had seen a year earlier in my dream.
When we found out we were pregnant, I kind of put the hopes for a girl aside. By that point, to be honest, we were just thankful for a child, period!
When the nurse told me in October that we were having a girl, it didn’t surprise me. God had confirmed twice that I would give birth to this girl. Hearing it from the nurse was merely bringing the terms of our dreams to the earthly realm.
I tell you this because I know many people who are waiting and praying for something that God has shown them. If you’ve seen it, or heard Him whisper it, don’t give up on your dream. God has plans to give you EXACTLY what he has shown you. Whoever you are, wherever you are, this message is meant for YOU. My story is one that is meant to both encourage you and give you the command to persevere.
“And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” – Heb 12:1
