You know what bugs me? Explaining to people about Paleo eating and having them respond with, “But you don’t need to lose weight.”

For the record, I’m not trying to lose weight. Let’s go ahead and get that straight. I’m 5’4″ and 120 lbs soaking wet. I’m not in the business of trying to be smaller than that.

I’m trying to be in the best health of my life. I’m trying to bridge the gap that often exists between looking great and feeling great. That’s why I’ve stuck with it for so long. Over a year into our Paleo/ITF journey, and I’m never looking back.

Being in shape and perfecting your body, by making it stronger and healthier, is something you have to work at all the time. It’s not just something you tackle when you need to lose a few pounds. It’s not like, once the weight is off, you can just go back to what you were doing before, because hey, you’ve arrived! Nope. Wrong. Stupid.

Because, whether you realize it or not, there are still things happening within your body. There are muscles that need to be fed, organs that need to be kept healthy. It’s not just about the outside. Starving yourself, or taking weight loss supplements to get down to a certain weight doesn’t do anything for your inners. Yep, I said inners.

The next time you skip a meal because you need to “cut back,” think about just consistently eating healthy meals instead. The next time you pop a pill or supplement to speed up your metabolism, ask yourself what you would do if you were already at the weight/size you desired. The change has to be maintained. Lipo does no good if you’re still going to have donuts for breakfast after you get it.
